Selenite is a translucent crystal, a variety of the mineral gypsum. It has a pearl like glow and is a favourite to have in the home as a decorative piece or part of a crystal collection. The heart candle holder has a polished top and a flat cut underside. When the candle is lit, the light passes through the candle holder due to the slight transparency of the Selenite.
